Stephen Rosenthal is a professor of operations management at Boston University School of Management. He teaches courses through Cascade Executive Programs on operations management and service delivery.

Rosenthal is the former chairman of the Operations Management Department at Boston University and director of the Center for Enterprise Leadership. He has also served as a visiting faculty member at Dartmouth University, Harvard University, Brandeis University, Princeton University, and Columbia University. He has developed and presented programs in operations management and service delivery for the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, the U.S. Department of Labor, and Partners HealthCare. He also serves as a consultant to public agencies and major corporations.

Rosenthal has authored two books, Managing Government Operations and Reaching for the Knowledge Edge. He has also written many articles and cases that are used in management courses across the country.

Prior to his career in academics, Rosenthal worked in public administration in New York City under Mayor John Lindsay with responsibilities in the areas of housing, health, and human services.

Rosenthal holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a BS from Brown University.
