Evans School Launches Partnership with X Prize Foundation
The X PRIZE Foundation, an educational nonprofit that designs and administers competitions with prizes of $10 million or more, has announced a partnership with the Evans School of Public Affairs to launch the X PRIZE Lab@UW, an educational initiative designed to engage leading students to help recognize areas that are ripe for breakthrough innovation. The collaboration is the second X PRIZE Lab in the U.S. This is also the first time the X PRIZE Foundation has collaborated with a graduate school of public policy and management.
Two Successful Conferences on Benefit-Cost Analysis Held in D.C.
Faculty and staff of Benefit-Cost Analysis Center at the Evans School orchestrated two very successful conferences in Washington, D.C. October 19-21. The first conference was sponsored by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and focused the use of benefit-cost analysis in social programs; the second was the annual meeting and conference of the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis. Over 100 people attended each conference and the feedback on the quality of the conference content, programing, and logistics has been extremely positive. David Harrison to Receive Workforce and Economic Development Best Practice Award
Senior Lecturer David S. Harrison will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for Workforce and Economic Development Best Practices at the Workforce and Economic Development Conference in Spokane, Washington.Dean Sandra O. Archibald Elected to the National Academy of Public Administration
Sandra O. Archibald, Evans School dean and professor, has been elected to the National Academy of Public Administration, an independent, nonprofit coalition of top public management and organizational leaders who address the nation's most important public policy matters.
